Diagnostic assessments:
Our diagnostic assessments are for adults who want or need a diagnosis of a specific learning difficulty (SpLD) and think they may have dyslexia, ADHD, dyscalculia or dyspraxia.
Our diagnostic assessors are either Educational Psychologists registered with the HCPC, the British Chartered Psychological Society or Specialist Assessors with an Assessment Practising Certificate from AMBDA, PATOSS or Dyslexia Guild.
You might be looking to get a diagnosis for:
- a greater understanding of how and why you work or think the way you do
- evidence of eligibility for support schemes such as Access to Work (in the workplace) or Disabled Students Allowance (in higher education)
- evidence of a SpLD so your workplace or educational institution can put in place reasonable adjustments or exam access arrangements for you
Your assessor will discuss the information in your background questionnaire with you, as well as asking you to complete several tasks. These are not pass or fail tests: they are designed to highlight indicators of a SpLD and assess aspects of your cognitive profile including; verbal and visual ability, working memory, phonological awareness and processing speed.
Understanding your own neurodivergence is a journey, and it’s one that Aim Forward are here to support you through.
Needs assessments:
A needs assessment is a relaxed, friendly discussion with one of our knowledgeable assessors to find the right tools for learning and working your way.
Your assessor will explore what matters most to you, but some of the areas could include: reading and research, writing and composition, meetings, presentations, note-taking, time-management, organisation, your environment, your wellbeing, and potential reasonable adjustments.
During your needs assessment, your assessor will explore key aspects of your cognitive profile, such as verbal and visual ability, working memory, phonological awareness and processing speed. We also explore other impacts such as attention concentration, social and communication skills, planning and organisation. Workplace needs assessments can help you better understand yourself and provide tailored neurodiversity support.
The outcome of this will be:
- a greater understanding of your diagnosis and how it impacts you
- insights into how and why you work and learn the way you do
- practical suggestions and recommendations to help you maximise strengths and overcome barriers
- reasonable adjustments to put in place in work or study
- ideas for assistive technology and software that could support you
- personalised strategies to help you excel
You don’t need a formal diagnosis for a workplace needs assessment. Our assessors have worked with people with and without diagnoses, providing neurodiversity support for over 10+ years. We are experts at identifying the impact your neurodivergence or health condition is having on your work, learning and everyday life. Workplace needs assessments can have a profound impact on how you work.
Understanding your neurodivergence is a journey, and Aim Forward are here to help you find solutions to shape your future.
Coaching:
After you complete one of our workplace needs assessments, our qualified coaches provide neurodiversity support to help you to build lasting habits, set up schedules, and celebrate little wins – an important part of progress! Your coaching can happen anywhere with an internet connection, so it’s still convenient if you often travel for studying or work. Our expert coaches can help you:
- Learn more about the recommendations and strategies in your needs assessment report.
- Adapt and refine your strategies based on what works for you day-to-day.
- Build confidence and your ability to tackle challenges or unexpected events.
- Transform your strategies into lasting habits.
Coaching with us can look like regular sessions to share your journey, or an occasional boost of guidance when you feel you need it – we’ll be led by you. Once you have read through your needs assessment report, think about which strategies you want support with to embed in everyday life. Then get in touch with our support team to arrange a coaching session.
