I was blown away by the support and service with the needs assessment, a refreshing approach which has a genuine impact on me as a neurodiverse person, but also helpful for our clients too. As an employment lawyer, I could see how this can really help manage effective, reasonable adjustments without over-medicalising the situation.

benefits of neurodiversity in the workplace

“The needs assessment after my diagnosis was life-changing. It gave me a new, deeper understanding of myself and how others perceive me. My self-awareness has grown immensely, and I now have the language to explain what’s happening in my head, leading to much clearer communication.

The assessment report provided clear, reasonable adjustments, which I could confidently discuss and implement with my manager. Small changes, like a refined work environment, mind mapping software, and noise-cancelling headphones, have made a huge difference.

This experience has brought a tremendous level of understanding, enabling me to manage situations with far greater composure. My productivity has soared; I’m getting more done, feeling more motivated, empowered, and focused. I can now better support my team, recognising when someone else might be struggling and implementing helpful measures”.

Workplace Needs Assessments

A workplace needs assessment is suitable for anyone with either a diagnosed or suspected neurodivergence or physical or mental health condition.

During the assessment, your employee will explore their current situation and identify any barriers they are facing.

Some of the areas could include: reading and research, writing and composition, meetings, presentations, note-taking, social and communication and planning skills, time-management, attention, organisation, their environment and their wellbeing.

The assessor will also explore key aspects of their cognitive profile, such as verbal and visual ability, working memory, phonological awareness and processing speed.

Within two weeks of the assessment, you will receive a comprehensive report highlighting a variety of potential reasonable adjustments which you can implement to support neurodiversity in the workplace and allow your employees to work more productively.

This levels the playing field for your employees, benefiting the individual, their manager and coworkers, and the company as a whole.
