Dyslexia Test

Take our free online dyslexia test to find out if you have traits of dyslexia.

What is dyslexia?

Dyslexia is a specific learning difficulty (SpLD) affecting reading, spelling, and writing. Features of dyslexia include difficulty with verbal memory, verbal processing speed, and phonological awareness. Unlike a learning disability, dyslexia does not affect intelligence. Dyslexia is also very common – around 1 in 10 people may be dyslexic to some extent.

Research has also shown that dyslexic people often have greater strengths in non-verbal creativity than non-dyslexic people. This means they may excel in work and learning centred around design, art, and audiovisual media.

Why take our free dyslexia test?

You may suspect you have dyslexia or have been told you have it and want to try a free test for reassurance. Some common traits of dyslexia you may be experiencing include:

  • Slower reading and writing speeds
  • Confusing the order of words
  • Mixing up similar letters or writing letters the wrong way round
  • Find carrying out a sequence of directions challenging
  • Understand verbal information but struggle to understand information when it is written down
  • Poor or inconsistent spelling
  • Difficulties with planning and organisation

Our free online dyslexia test is a helpful way to understand more about yourself and whether you may have traits of dyslexia.

The test is not designed to give you a diagnosis, this can only be done by a qualified professional. Instead, you may find the questions and results useful to understand if you display common behaviours and traits associated with dyslexia.

What to expect in the test?

You’ll answer 12 questions and scenarios focusing on aspects of dyslexia. Once you have completed the questions, we will ask you to share your name and email address so we can send your free results via email. Based on your answers, your free test results will indicate whether you have no traits of dyslexia, some signs, or a strong possibility of dyslexia.

What are the benefits of taking the test?

Taking our free dyslexia test can help you understand if you have dyslexia traits. This can empower you to investigate further support and explore either a professional diagnosis or a needs assessment to help you put strategies in place to help you thrive in your work, study, and everyday life.

How should I answer the test?

Answer the questions to the best of your ability to benefit from personalised results.

Whilst your answers will only give you an indication of potential traits, At Aim Forward, we are confident that we can help you understand how your brain operates and if you are neurodivergent. This can help you to put strategies in place to help you learn and work your way.

What do I do once I have my results?

Understanding how your brain works and your neurodivergent traits can provide validation and empower you to navigate work, study, and life more confidently. You can leverage your strengths and challenges by embracing new strategies.

If the tests highlight you have dyslexic traits, you can seek a diagnosis. Free online dyslexia tests can be a useful place to start when you are in the early stages of exploring your neurodivergence, but they do not give you a diagnosis.
